Weekend Re-Cap

We did some pre weekend eating and drinking at Buffalo Wild Wings, followed by a stop at the bowling alley and then a little late night crying at another local bar. When you and the other two people you are with begin drowning sorrows you don't have when you are sober in a pitcher of beer, that is when you know it's time to stop drinking, lol.

(Cousin Bryan aka Mr. Mischievous ordering some extremely hot wings!)

(a picture of our nephew not loving the Easter bunny, poor buddy)

We held an intense game of Pictionary at our house Friday night, the boys were not into the game night idea at first but with much begging and nagging they joined. They usually have their own game night in which they play risk or game of thrones. Us girls always feel left out so I sent out a group text and on Friday night we had about 20 players, boys vs. girls..3 rounds the boys one two rounds and we won one, here is a picture during the round we won the word was swallow but he had read it as shallow, he was pretty upset when I wouldn't let him re draw his word, sorry Jeff.

Saturday Joe had to go and rent his tuxedo for Andrea & Jeff's wedding (wedding is coming up quickly). Saturday evening rented The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and made popcorn, it was nice to do something just Joe and I. I highly recommend this movie, you really have to pay attention but it is very good. Sunday Dos came to visit, we had yummy fro-yo from a place who only let's you try one sample WTH. Joe and I cleaned up a bit, he had to work. Spoon came by to visit. It was a great weekend. My brother left for his solo back packing trip through Europe, his first destination Barcelona, Spain you can read about his travels here strangerinthestragestland.wordpress.com, I miss him already and can't wait to meet up with him in Portugal, countdown 21 days!

Happy 29th J!

My husband turned 29 today!!! I couldn't be happier or luckier than to have picked such a perfect mate, he is the most genuine person I have ever met...I am thankful for him everyday. He is also the biggest Chile  Rellenos lover I have ever met, more than my family and I.

My mom came over tonight and made her should be FAMOUS Chile Rellenos. They were so good and a nice surprise for J. He usually makes them, as seen in this previous post. I'm not sure if it's the special tomato broth sauce or the chile itself but I have never had a better one than my mom and now that she has taught J, J's. I've had one restaurant chile relleno that was very good, we were living in Sonoma and it was at a place called Taqueria La Hacienda they have the best Restaurant Chile Rellenos I have ever tried but it still isn't the same. Sometimes I'm scared to order them if we are out, fearing it will get to the table and be covered in brown beef gravy, People please don't eat a chile relleno covered in gravy, that's so gross and ruins the chile flavor. I need to post a tutorial on how to make them, I would one day love to have a chil roaster in my back yard, wouldn't that be amazing?!?!

Happy Birthday J, you big Chile!

Happy New Year!

The start of a new year comes with so much hope and happiness for the next 365 days ahead. Joe is starting his teaching credential program. Im getting my medical assistant certificate and my license to sell life insurance. We are in two weddings together this year a few trips planned and a lot of time working on our home, hopefully a baby, should make for a busy year. One of our resolutions is to quit smoking cigarettes, wish us luck! We are also eating better so our resolution is basically a lifestyle change. Weighing in tomorrow at work, once again wish me luck. Should be interesting at least we have each other to support one another.

Looking forward to doing a lot more blog post this year. Cheers to health, wealth and prosperity (I ate black eyed peas earlier today)!

Happy new year!

Baby Holden

Scott Andrew (local photographer) and his sweet family could use a Christmas miracle. His baby boy Holden is struggling to stay healthy and needs a little help from a very pricey feeding clinic [not covered by insurance]. If you have any room to give this holiday season, please consider the Andrew family. Scott has made a touching video you can check out on his blog. And please spread the love and the word on this post...strenth in numbers people!

Boys Night Out

In April I attended a fundraiser with some friends at a local pizza place, we ended up buying some sticky mustaches out of the vending machine. We Called this picture (see below) "boys night out". In June Erin's (handle bar mustache) mom suggested that she and I send some pictures to SJ Woman magazine who had recently asked for "girls night out" pictures, so we did. I had completely forgot that I had sent in our photo until Bobbie (groucho marx), called me this morning. One of her co-workers had put the publication on her desk, imagine her surprise since she had no idea I submitted. The whole thing is just funny and made my day.

30 and 3

I live in my hometown somewhere I never in my 30 years imagined I would end up living. My husband (Joe) of almost 3 years and I bought a home here last December close to our family and friends. He has always wanted to live in his childhood neighborhood, I have always wanted to be in a big city, a fifth floor walk up, tiny studio would suit me just fine. It's funny how what you want can be changed so easily by love. It's truly an amazing thing to be married to your best friend, it changes you in ways you've never dreamed possible. I'm lucky to have found such a loving and supportive man to share my life with. As we approach our 3 year wedding anniversary, I find myself being thankful more and more for him.

Turning 30 has also changed me, I'm working out, reading for pleasure, and staying on top of my laundry. My goals are to enjoy my delish life with my hubby, get a teaching degree, start up-cycling used furniture, learn to sew, landscape my big ass yard, turn my house into a home room by room, volunteer, and all around just be a better person. Not sure how long all of that might take, especially since I'm sure I'll add goals an we want to have children, I hear they take up a lot of time hahaha.

Here we are being silly (see above). Please note the karaoke singer in the background , I do not karaoke...Joe does. I do however love to dance like a fool to the cupid shuffle and other various line dances after a few cocktails of course.

XOXO-Rachel
